Databases versus Search Engines Search engines like Google and Yahoo search the entire world wide web, so you get millions of results to sift through for each topic. Online Resources/Databases search a specific set of reference materials which provide access to peer reviewed articles. Why use Databases? Most students prefer to search using google or other search engines because that is what is comfortable, what they don’t realize is that just because google finds it, doesn’t mean it is true. Search engines do not always provide “reliable sources” of information, while databases search published works which are much more reliable. (You normally pay for access to databases).
